When English my third language.

My confession to you..........................

The first time i knew English when i was at Junior High School. In that time, i got English lesson maybe around 1 or 2 hours per week. When i sat at High School, i became a member of the British Council Library. Every week i tried to go there to borrow some of books or just watch video without subtitle.

I never serious to learn English and maybe that was my mistake.

The first time i met my husband, we wrote email in English language and it took me hours to wrote short email J Because every time i wrote i saw dictionary, i was afraid that he didn’t understand what i mean in that email. But finally i got more confidence to write and talk in the English language.

When Dutch became my second language, everything is mix Dutch and English. I get more headache. Sometime i make mistakes with words. Example :

# Feel (English) and Veel (Dutch)

The writing is different as is the meaning. I am sure i don’t have to explain the word ‘feel’, you are better than me :)

‘Veel’ in Dutch means a lot, enough, more. That’s why Orange-Bubble gave comment to me in my other article “About IBS”. Orange-Bubble didn’t understand when i wrote ‘feel water’. What i mean in here is ‘enough water’

To justice4all, all the comments on article “on 27 August 2007” wrote by my husband. I don’t know much about Earth, Mars and space universe. And his English better than me, that’s for sure.

That's it...................

Hi Juliana,

I stumble upon your website from the discussion pages. I think your English is great considering it is your third language. At least I have no problems understanding it although there could be some improvements in your grammar. Keep up the learning attitude in languages and others! :-)

I really love those awesome photos you took! They are beautiful!

I have taught many students English from many countries. You'll catch on in time and it is difficult when you are learning Dutch also. When I learned Spanish and German it was at seperate times; so made it easier. What is your first language? You will have to share about your country of Indonesia also. I love learning about other countries and like you would like to travel to many!

Your photos are wonderful!!
